WE AT KH TANK- UND KORROSIONSSCHUTZ COAT STORAGE TANKS AND PROCESS VESSELS.

Damage in vessels such as tanks or silos is often caused by reactions of condensation, oxygen and abrasive wear with the different tank contents. Corrosion damage and leakage can occur quickly and entail high costs for the operator – not to mention damage to the environment.

For work in vessels and confined spaces, the TRGS (Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances Surface Treatment in Rooms and Vessels) 507 and in particular the DGUV (German Statutory Accident Insurance) 133-004/005 apply.
The necessary protective measures are coordinated together with the responsible occupational safety specialist.

The internal tank coatings from KH permanently protect the inner surfaces of your containers from corrosive/aggressive liquids and abrasive storage products, prevent leaks, and thereby extend the repair intervals.

Our coatings are regularly inspected by the responsible technical monitoring bodies and approved as defect-free.

OUR COATING PROCESSES ARE MONITORED BY OUR OWN FROSIO LEVEL III INSPECTOR.

CUSTOMER ORDER:

Remove old coating and apply new internal coating.
Customer: MC Bauchemie, Bottrop

CHALLENGE:

The tank could only be accessed via the outer construction. The bottom of the tank inside was tapered, so a wooden floor construction had to be built first to ensure stability. It was a challenge to set up equipment and materials (mortisers, hoses, etc.) and scaffolding through the narrow manhole into the interior and secure it level by level. Likewise, it required a certain level of physical fitness for our employees to climb to the top of the scaffolding again and again, loaded with material.

METHOD:

Inside the tank, the old coating first had to be removed mechanically with heavy equipment. The surface was then sandblasted SA 2 1/2 in preparation for the later application of the new coat of primer, intermediate coat and top coat. At the end, the layer thickness was 1,200 μm in total.

1. PROJECT PLANNING

Detailed and transparent project planning is the basis for successful implementation. After a site inspection we prepare all the relevant documents, such as construction drawings, and send them to you. In a joint meeting with everyone responsible for the project, we disclose and discuss all drawings, test reports and the monitoring table of an approved monitoring body. All specifications are also considered and planned on the customer’s end. At the beginning of the project, as part of occupational safety, we cordon off the construction area and build scaffolding if necessary.

2. SURFACE PREPARATION

Preparation of the surface according to DIN EN ISO 850 of the building standard lexicon and in close consultation with the customer.

3. COATING SYSTEMS

The surface preparation is determined on the basis of the stored product. Depending on the storage medium, a comparison is made in the coating resistance table. For warranty reasons, the manufacturer’s recommendation is decided on here. This also forms the basis for the coating system.

4. TYPE OF APPLICATION

The technical data sheets for the coating systems specify the types of application. Hot spray system, airless and airmix system, cup gun and flow cup systems. If necessary, additional edge protection with brush or roller.
